Campanula Pearl

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Life Cycle:Perennial / first year flowering

Familiy, Origin:Campanulaceae, Eastern Europe, Carpathian

Sitelocation:Full sun

Garden Height:18 cm,09 inch

Flower Size:5 cm,1,97 inch

Natural flowertime:June - August

Crop Time:Plug crop: 9-10 weeks; Green pots: 12 weeks; Flowering pots: annual cultivation is possible without vernalization; Cultivation systems: 1. Cultivation in winter outdoors and start in spring in greenhouse: 7 months, 2. Cultivation indoors in greenhouse only: 6 months, 3. Cultivation in summer outdoors only: 6 months.

Seed Form:Raw Seed and Multiseed Pellets (4-6 seeds/pellet)?

Seed Count:12987 K/g

Sowing Method:For 1: ~5 seeds or 1 Multipellet per plug, For 2 and 3: ~5 seeds or 1 Multipellet per plug.

Germination:14-18 days at 20-22 ˇăC during daytime and 16 ˇăC during night in media with very low soluble salt levels and pH: 5.5-6.2. Requires light for germination. Do not cover seeds. Keep soil slightly moist but not wet. Temperature changes will stimulate the germination and supplemental lighting after germination will enhance growth and increase flower initiation.

Plug Culture:From Stage II reduce the soil moisture, the plug should not dry out. Do not let soluble salt level rise above 0,5 EC. Start fertilization at 30-50 ppm nitrogen in a well balanced formula. During Stage III and Stage IV fertilization levels can be increased up to 150-200 ppm.

Growing On:6-8 weeks after sowing transplant 8-10 plants into a pack or pot (9-11 cm). Transplant the plant not too deep in pot.

Media:Use a well-drained, growing perennial substrate, pH: 5.5-6.2.

Photoperiod / Light:Long day plant. For 1: in spring start to grow for two weeks in short day and with supplemental lighting (10-12 h, 20-30 W/m2 firstly. When the plants have got the desired height, start the long day (16-18 h) for flowering. Night interruption is possible. For 2: During the first three weeks cultivate for vegetative growth in short day and with supplemental lighting (10-12 h, 20-30 W/m2) firstly. When the plants have got the desired height, start the long day (16-18 h) for flowering. Night interruption is possible.

Temperature:Grow at 13-18 ˇăC. In winter indoors frost free at 3-5 ˇăC or outdoors (for 1). Outdoor fleece cover needed. In spring the plants start to grow for 5-7 weeks at 15-18 ˇăC (for 1). Cold temperatures at 13-15 ˇăC will increase the cultivation time. A chilling period for flower initiation is not required (for 2 and 3).

Fertilization:Moderate fertilization levels are required.

Cultural Hints:Treat pots outdoors with fungicide against Botrytis, Rhizoctonia and Phytium. Sell campanula carpatica when 10-15 flowers are open. At this stage plants are good transportable. Select the distance between plants select not too close.
